Be a Published Young Author – Youth Writing Competition

Date: 6th July – 30th August 2015, every day

Have you ever written a story, a poem or a letter that you have really enjoyed writing and wish you could share? Then this competition is for you.
This is for young people aged 11 to 17 years to enter the competition to write either a poem, short story or letter and the best 50 entries will be published in a book called Who Am I? Entries will be accepted from Monday 6th July to Sunday 30th August. The three main themes are: My part of the city, Journeys and Who Am I?
Poems should be a minimum of 50 words and a maximum of 200, short stories should be a minimum of 500 words to a maximum of 1500 words and letters should be a minimum of 50 words to a maximum of 200 words. The submission deadline is Sunday 30th August 2015.
Each person can submit up to 2 entries each. Submit your entry with ‘Youth Writing Competition’ clearly marked on an envelope to any Southwark Library or send an email with the entry to southwark.libraries@southwark.gov.uk.
To be entered into the competition you must ensure your full name, full address with postcode and contact telephone number is written clearly on your competition entry.
The writers of the 50 successful entries will be informed during September 2015 and will be invited to a book launch during December 2015.
